President's Message

Hello everyone from your new president. It does seem kind of scary to me. It will be a tough pair of shoes to fill after the super job George has done. Thank you, George, for the superb job of running the club.

The season has started with nice weather for the first few hikes and cycling will start the last week of April. I am looking forward to another good year hiking and cycling with all of you.

A number of dates have now been set for some of the events scheduled so please note the list below-
KT Pizza Party - Sunday, May 17 @ 6:00 PM. This is a Social at KT’s Restaurant following the Sunday hike. Here is a chance to renew old acquaintances. New members please note that it is a pay for your own meal event.
Annual Picnic Social - Wednesday, August 15, @ 4:30 PM. This is an outdoor picnic at Juniper Bay. Bring your own picnic meal and enjoy the social atmosphere at the beach with other club members.

The photo contest will be continued again this year, so bring you cameras out along with you on your Club events. Also check the upcoming events on the Club website, www.vernonoutdoorsclub.org, for the dates of the Peter Legge Memorial Hike and the Golf Tournament.

Happy hiking and have a great and safe summer. And just a reminder, wear over the ankle hiking boots on the Outdoors Club hikes. It is one of the best ways to prevent sprained ankles and foot injury.

RAMBLERS

Wow, what a season opener!!! We had 69 Ramblers out on the first hike through the Grey Canal area. It was a beautiful day so we are off to a great start this spring.

As usual, a group of us are out scouting upcoming hikes and exploring new areas to see what new hikes we can come up with to replace the ones that are quickly disappearing due to the never ending development of our hillsides. If you have any ideas, please give me a call.

See you on the trails.
