Hello and welcome to the 2006 season of the Vernon Outdoors Club.This season promises to bring you the same fun events as last year including Sunday Hikes, Tuesday Rambles, Thursday Bike Rides,Golf Tournament,Curling Bonspiel,Peter Legge Memorial hiking trip,Biking trip and more. So, it is important that you stay informed and when the dates are announced be sure to mark them down so you don't miss out if you want to participate. Some important things to note and Mark down are- -ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING is Thursday March 09/06 @7:00P.M. at the Schubert Centre (REMEMBER THE SCHUBERT CENTRE)-Cor Manders will be giving a presentation on his cross Canada Bike Trip and as well we will be acknowledging some special people.(Oh and don't forget it is election of new Executive Officers time as well) - At the AGM on March 09th we will be providing a table for anyone that might want to bring some of their old/unused outdoor gear/items to the meeting to see if anyone is interested in them. It could be such things as pack packs , hiking poles , bike carriers etc. that you no longer need . All that is required is to place a tag on your item clearly marking your name and phone number, along with the price you would like for them. Any unsold items MUST be taken home at the end of the evening. One final note- this year there will NOT be any pre-season bike rides organized by the club so DO NOT look for them prior to the Scheduled rides. We hope to have a description of 6 different conditioning rides posted on the web, so watch for them then get a buddy or two and follow the directions on your own when the weather is suitable. RAMBLER TALK Are you ready? Spring is just around the corner and the 2006 Rambles start on March 28 with a hike through Sunset Properties. Get your boots and poles out and start getting into shape! | T-Shirts and Vests In an effort to coordinate sales of VOC t-shirts and vests and to ensure sufficient volumes when placing orders, t-shirts and vests will be for sale at the spring Annual General Meeting and the fall General Meeting ONLY. Anyone who would like to place an order for t-shirts or vests this year, please be prepared to do so at the spring AGM on March 9. All orders must be prepaid so the club no longer has to carry the cost of these orders up to delivery. - Lois | |||

CARIBOO GAMBLERS BIKE CAMPOUT 2006 Please be reminded that this years CYCLING trip is to the SOUTH CARIBOO.(specifically the Watch Lake/Green Lake Area) The dates are Sept.5 through Sept.11 with 'actual' cycling on Sept.6,7,8,9,and 10. All rides are mapped out with leaders for each-details upon arrival! All cabins and most campsites are booked as of today, but nearby accommodations are available! We have received a request to send in a $20 cheque for each person attending the Cariboo Country Nites Dance. The committee needs a commitment from us in order to book the bands and entertainment for a second night for our group plus some"locals".
