President's Message Another season will be starting and its time to get your bikes serviced and gears checked. Following is a list of upcoming events to help you get organized for spring.          1. Annual General Meeting , March 13, Schubert Centre, 7:00 PM.          2. KT Social, April 06, 6:00 PM          3. Picnic, Kin Beach, August 14, 4:30 PM          4. Annual Peter Legge Memorial Campout, July 28 & 29, Illecillewaet campgrounds.          5. Calgary Biking Campout, September 08 to 12. Check the Vernon Outdoors Club website for more information.          6. General Meeting, September 17, Schubert Centre, 7:00 PM.          7. Annual VOC Banquet, October 25, Schubert Centre Valhalla is offering all club members a 10% discount on regular priced articles. You must present your Outdoors Club membership card. Also note, at the last executive meeting, the executive decided to incorporate the following :          1. All level 5 hikes will not be advertised in the local paper. To do a level 5 hike, one must have done a level 4 hike. We have had too many people unprepared to do a level 5 hike and these people are a liability to the rest of the hikers and the hike could be a health risk to the person as well.          2. Using a Passport type card for a record, club awards will be given to those participating in the highest number of club activities. More information will be available at the General Meeting. "Hiking Trails" Book Committee Since 1989 the Vernon Outdoors Club has published "Hiking Trails" books. Undoubtedly, the original scribes (Mark Berger and Bob Platt with help from many other Club members) would have had no idea how popular the book would become, both within the Club and among the general public. Since 1989 we have sold many thousands of copies; straightforward reprints have been done but each "edition" has included changes and updates to the inventory of hikes and actual text. Thanks to the generosity of Max and Heidi Frehner, Kathy and Eckhard Fabische, and Suzie Sims, we now have a small library comprised of each of the six editions the Club has masterminded. Many other Club members still own early editions which they treasure and still use! The book has been a great success story and helps support the Club's many activities, helps keep our membership dues to a bare minimum, and encourages a wide population to get out there and hike the trails!
Information on the 2008 Biking Campout and Peter Legge Memorial Hike are in the November 2007 Trekker.	HIKERS AND RAMBLERS PLEASE NOTE Above-the-ankle hiking boots are required for all hikes. Leaders may decline to allow anyone without proper footwear to participate.
