President's Message

We are off to another good year with good turn outs at all venues, and the weatherman has been co-operating for the most part. Having said that the Club is in need of Volunteers to help with Hikes and Cycle trips, as well don't forget that we need a Vice President/President to start getting involved for the next season. So, if you wish to help out, please let any of the Cub Officers or Directors know.

Be sure to check the Web-site for up coming events and enjoy your summer.

Important Notice
The Vernon Outdoors Club has an expectation that each individual is able to keep up with the average participant on any given activity. It is the exclusive right of VOC Leaders to refuse to allow anybody in their activity if, in his or her opinion, the participant is, (for example), inadequately equipped or physically unfit.

HIKERS AND RAMBLERS PLEASE NOTE
Above-the-ankle hiking boots are required for all hikes. Leaders may decline to allow anyone without proper footwear to participate.
"Hiking Trails” 7th Edition – the Vernon Outdoors Club’s very own publication.

Although we fully expected to have this full-colour edition ready by mid March and then by mid April, our Committee underestimated the time it would take to make all the necessary edits and changes. As you know, we have maps for almost every hike in the book; this aspect has also been time-consuming.

However, we’re on the home stretch; the book has been printed and is being trimmed and bound. We expect to have books available by the second week of June. Cost to Club Members is $12.00/copy and we suggest our retailers offer it to their customers for $15.00. Obviously, you make a great saving as a Club Member; plus, you support the organization in terms of keeping Membership dues low, help pay costs of trail clearing, and for scouting potential new routes!

If you would like to be notified of the book's arrival in our hands, please phone me, Suzie Sims: 250-546-8185
