President's Message

Well another year is off and running with trail scouting started, lots of Cyclists on the road already and the Skiing enthusiasts haven't even come down from the snow yet!- Isn't life grand!!!

As you are all aware by now(because the vast majority of you are reading this electronically) we have taken a quantum leap forward and have created our own Web Site to deliver news, information, schedules etc.. The main reason for the change is cost savings, but it also means faster delivery of schedules and a very convenient way of getting information to our Membership. For those of you who haven't given us an E-Mail address or who don't own a computer I strongly urge you to visit the web site @www.vernonoutdoorsclub.org , in the case of the later get a friend to show you it and ask them to keep you up to date on items posted there.Of particular interest is the Forum, which is yours to use, and I would strongly urge you to take advantage of it as many of you have asked for such a place to advertise items for sale etc.. So remember if we have your E-Mail address you will not receive a paper copy, only E-Mail notice that a new Trekker and/or schedule has been posted.(Oh-by the way the password has been dropped as it is not felt to be necessary)

On another note we are undertaking to clean up and consolidate VOC files etc. into the Club's filing cabinet , so if you have any old paper work sitting around please give it to one of the Executive so we can either file it or destroy it if no longer needed. In the case of sign-in sheets, if they are dated 2003 or older please just destroy them as we have established a policy of only keeping the sign-in sheets one year.

Well so much for business- I would like to take this opportunity to thank the rest of the Executive new and old (and I don't mean old as in OLD but perhaps I should say experienced) for making it so easy to get the 2005 year underway and I look forward to seing you all at the many coming scheduled events.

George Ferguson-President
(PS Don't forget the following dates

SUNDAY HIKES
There are lots of old favourites on the schedule, and we even managed to find a couple of new ones again for this year. I would like to thank George, Donna and Colette, a great scouting team. However, Donna says that I owe her about 6 rambles, as we only seem to find Sunday hikes! I would also like to thank those who have volunteered to lead again this year. Remember, if you are interested in becoming a leader, you can always co-lead some hikes. See you on the trail! Colin Baxter
CYCLING ADVISORY COMMISSION- City of Vernon
The Vernon Outdoors Club is interested in having a representative sit on the above commission to be able to express our views on the future of Cycle paths in the City.
