Well another Year is behind us and by all reports it was a very successful one as usual. For us to be able to continue having such wonderful seasons year after year we must thank all those that volunteer to help out for without them we would not be successful. So, once again a BIG Thank you to all Leaders,Organizers, the Book Commitee the Executive and any one that helped in any way -you are what makes the Club the success it is. As we move on to the Ski hills and think of snow, Wally tells us that Snow-shoeing should be able to get going in early December so stay in touch. Dates to remember -Annual General Meeting March 8/07 at the Schubert Center -Fall Banquet Oct. 27/07 at Vernon Golf Club For all of you taking winter vacations or who are turning into Snow Birds-enjoy - and to everyone, while early, have a great Holiday Season. | SUNDAY HIKES Thanks again to all those who led hikes this year and helped to make this another successful hiking season. I have just about finished next year's schedule, and I would like to also thank those who have agreed to lead in 2007. Meanwhile, see you on the ski trails! Colin RAMBLERS This year we rambled our way through 25 hikes which took us as far south as Westbank and as far north as Adams River. Over the season 856 people took part in our Rambles. Next year the season begins on March 27th so mark that date on your calendars. Have a great winter season whether you are heading south for some sun or up the hill to play in the snow and I will look forward to seeing you all out in the spring. You may start booking in 9 months prior to your arrival, for example if you want to arrive September 8th you could book December 8th,2006. We have been told that there should not be a problem in accommidating us BUT there is something going on every week-end in Chelan -so we highly recommend you book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. For those of you that do not Camp we are not making a specific recommendation as to a Hotel/Motel as there are lots within easy biking distance of the Camp Ground but we recommend you visit WWW.Lakechelan.com for a list. Below are three examples of possible places-
This is a very picturesque area with lots to do even if you don't cycle as there are walking trails, golfing, boat tours and a short distance to the quaint town of Leavan Worth which is done up as a Bavarian Village. The Cycle rides themselves will all have a different flavour, thru Orchards, along the Lake, a first ever night ride etc. and oh yes a 1960's soda bar which sells every flavour you ever slurped down in your early years, along with the Garbage Bag Salad night and a Pancake Breakfast. One final note -we would like to get a number count this year so please E-Mail me at georgendonnaferguson@shaw.ca or phone 260-3541 confirming your attendance. For further information contact George/Donna Ferguson @260-3541 or Terry/Patty Brill @545-0578 | |||||
