Sunday group hikes are a great way to enjoy hikes with a leader who knows the route. Sunday hikes are generally longer and more challenging than our Tuesday Ramble program. In a typical season, early spring and late fall hikes range from 8-12km in length and a trailheads are generally close to Vernon. As the snows recede in the spring, we move further afield to trailheads in the Monashees or around Kamloops or Revelstoke, with hike lengths and elevation gains increasing. During August and September we sometimes offer two hikes of different levels of difficulty.
Hike destinations and departure times are published on the hiking calendar. The leader's name and phone number is listed in the calendar entry. If you have questions about the hike, the degree of difficulty, equipment needed, etc. feel free to call the leader. Arrive 15 mins early to arrange for ride sharing, etc. Unless posted otherwise, we leave from the parking lot on the east side of Vernon City Hall at 30th St & 34th Ave. If you're a guest or a new member, please read the "Member's Activity Guide" under the RESOURCES tab on this website. Note that over the ankle hiking boots are mandatory.
Vernon Outdoors Club develops a preliminary hiking schedule in March of each year so members and guests can start to plan which hikes they want to join BUT the schedule is subject to change as the season progresses and trail conditions, weather and leader availability become clearer. Please check the hiking calendar for details of each hike to access the most current information.
