We organize group activities so that our members and guests can enjoy outdoor activity in the company of others. Our activities generally include a volunteer leader who facilitates the activity and has knowledge of the route. Check the calendar for details.
Tuesday Rambles – generally shorter and easier hikes of 5 – 12 km in length at a moderate pace. Trailheads are usually within 10-20km of Vernon.
Sunday Hikes – as the season progresses these hikes also progress in challenge from shorter, local hikes early and late season to more challenging, longer hikes of 15-20 km at higher elevations later in the summer. Trailheads for day hikes may be as far afield as Kamloops, Revelstoke or into the Monashees. The summer program includes easier and more challenging hikes on selected dates.
Thursday Cycle Rides – choose your activity level from two rides offered weekly. Routes vary from 25-40 km at a moderate pace for the casual cyclist to 50-80 km for the more ambitious. Road routes and easier off road trails.
Snowshoeing - winter brings the opportunity to enjoy new trails and terrain near Vernon.
Trail Maintenance – club volunteers maintain a number of hikes used by club members. We are always looking for new volunteers to join our trail gang. It’s rewarding, sociable and great exercise!
Volunteers – the club is run by members for members. We always need new volunteers to help run the club, manage PR and our website or run social events for members. Please contact an exec member if you have any time to spare at all to help the club.
New Ideas – we welcome new ideas. Camp outs, canoe trips, kayaking. Get involved and organize a new outing for our members.
Camp Outs - Camp outs for hikers and cyclists range from short weekend trips to longer, further afield trips. Camp outs are usually scheduled and announced over the winter. They give members a chance to enjoy multiple outings in an area in the company of other members and a leader who has some knowledge of the area.
