This trail is a moderate hike with beautiful views of the Lavington valley and Coldstream area. The Coldstream Ranchlands Trail (CRT) is a 6.3km loop, which can be done in either direction. We will also describe an add-on to this route for an additional 2.5km ‘Beyond’ (5km return).

From the trailhead parking on Ravine Drive follow the signs to get onto the trail. Follow the trail uphill until a 3-way junction. Take the trail going uphill towards the East. This upcoming section is the steepest part of the trail system, so take your time and enjoy the views while navigating the switchbacks. As you reach the highpoint and turning towards the West, there is a faint farm track to the right, shown as a red-dotted line on your map. Follow this track and you will shortly come to a wire-fence gate which you can open and close for access. Please ensure this crossing is closed again as it holds cattle in place!

You are now entering the powerline and turn right (East). Just above the upper set of power poles there is a trail that descends into the ravine and crosses the creek. Continue straight on this trail for a while until you come to a panoramic viewpoint which is the end of the trail. After a well-earned break, return the way you came and ensure that you close the wire-fence gate again upon passing. When back on the CRT turn right (West), and continue the gentler descend back to the Trailhead.

Please note that the map shows other hiking options, including access to Becker Lake. The use of these directions is entirely at the risk of the user.
